Welcome to MilCIS 2009: NCW—The Way Ahead
Planning is now underway for MilCIS 2009, following the success of MilCIS
2008. Over 600 people attended the conference and exhibition. MilCIS
2009 will be held 10-12 November 2009 at the National Convention Centre,
Canberra, Australia.
In 2008, the Defence Chief Information Officer Group (CIOG) partnered with the University of New South Wales, Australian Defence Force Academy in the hosting of the 2008 Military Communications and Information Systems (MilCIS) Conference.
As in previous years, the conference facilitated a continuing interface between Dept of Defence, employees, contractors, industry, customers and UNSW /ADFA to discuss solutions that meet the needs of the warfighter — specifically to discuss current and developing technological capabilities, initiatives, and operational requirements.
The Chief Information Officer Group (CIOG) is responsible for providing the Australian Defence Forces and the Department of Defence with a dependable, secure and integrated Defence Information Environment (DIE) that supports operational and management needs. The Group is responsible for planning, building, running and governing Information and Communications Technology (ICT) within Defence in terms of infrastructure and support.
MilCIS is an annual conference aimed at attendees from military and
government organisations, academia, and defence industry, who contribute to
key decisions in investments in communications and information systems. In
addition to keynote presentations, technical presentations, panel
discussions and tutorials, MilCIS features an exposition that provides an
opportunity for exhibitors to demonstrate new technologies and promote their
products and services to attendees. MilCIS is the only Australian conference
focussing directly on the crucial technologies, products, systems and
services associated with military communications and information systems.
